Great preview for Insulae, the spumante of Etna Rocca D’Api that will make its debut at Vinitaly from the 8th to the 12th of April (Padiglione Sicilia, Stand A6).
The company from Zafferana Etnea will propose, for the most important event on Italian wines, the tasting of a new spumante which was born in Contrada Rocca D’Api, but also the well-known Etna doc.
This delicate volcano brut is the result of a long study in cellars, in collaboration with oenologist Giorgio Grai, who created a fresh and nice spumante, which features the character of Mount Etna.
The native grapes of the Nerello Mascalese are cultivated in Castiglione di Sicilian on basaltic grounds, 500 metres above sea level. The grapes are first collected and then processed to make white wine. The Charmant method and the long permanence on yeasts, exalt the features of the vine. The result are elegant yellow bubbles with green reflexes, with a fruity scent, and the broom smell recalls the black prairies of the volcano. It has a dry, harmonic and fine taste.
Insulae tells in one word the essence of Sicily, an island just from a geographic point of view, but a Mediterranean linking point, a continent of cultures, colours, perfumes and terroir. Apart from its new wine, Etna Rocca D’Api will also present its new vintage wines: Le Moire rosso 2008, nerello mascalese e cappuccio, Le Moire rosato 2008, nerello mascalese and cappuccio, Le Moire bianco 2009, carricante and catarratto. And the special wines: Pietra Focaia, Moscato Sicilia igt 2008 from the rare Moscatella dell’Etna and the Grappa of Nerello Mascalese.
New look for the Zero Uno rosso 2006, nerello mascalese and cappuccio, and for the Zero Uno bianco 2006, carricante and catarratto, contained in an elegant borgognotta and with a clear label, sincere just like the Zero Uno.
