Christmas 2011: not only pandoro and panettone. Tradition rules on tables of Italian people, who are buying high-quality products. That’s the news for festivity sweets: to taste typical, regional sweets and cakes.
Fippa, the Italian Federation of bakers and confectioners, reports the news in an interview given to Siab (International Showroom of white art of Veronafiere, scheduled from the 25th to the 29th of May, 2013). “In comparison with last year”, states Franco La Sorsa, Fippa president, “purchases of hand-made pandoros and panettones are going to increase by 5-7%, that is over 10 thousand tons”. A really sweet Italy under the Christmas tree.
According to Fippa, consumption of hand-made sweets will beat not only industrial production, but also the crisis. “On the whole, sales of festivity sweets will decrease – continues saying La Sorsa – but family will pay more attention to quality, freshness and diet as well”. Even eating less, they will choose only high-quality food, but that’s not all. “As bakers and confectioners, we have registered a wider demand of typical, territorial sweets and cakes: pandolce from Genoa, ricciarelli from Siena, pizza of Natà from Marche, zeppole from Campania, Sicilian papassini or presnitz from Trieste”. Christmas 2011 will be a traditional festivity.
