He tried to rape a 22-year-old American soldier in Sigonella, breaking into the house he had rented her, but there was another soldier, a 24-year-old Italian, who managed to block the attacker and call the police. The incident happened in Camporotondo Etneo, near Catania. The victim is a young woman who works at the Nas 2 base in Sigonella and lives in an attic rented from the 24-year-old, who had a copy of the keys and broke into the flat.

But the woman was with another man who heard her screaming and managed to block the rapist after a fight. The woman was transferred to the American hospital and  was treated for contusions and bruises on  her stomach, back and shoulders. The rapist, instead, was brought to the Cannizzaro hospital in Catania and will be discharged in 30 days. The man is under police surveillance and is accused of attempted rape.
