It’s called vinotherapy, and spa lovers can try it out tomorrow at its inauguration at the exclusive Berlingeri Resort, which has recently opened in Mazara del Vallo. Vinotherapy treatments range from special face and body massages to total immersion in baths of red wine. Natural ingredients derived from red wine (red grape extracts, red wine concentrate, vine leaf and root extracts and grape seed oil) enable guests to enjoy the beneficial effects of the antioxidants found in the active grape ingredients. The Berlingeri Resort is located between Campobello di Mazara and Mazara del Vallo. Its courtyard and resort buildings, which in the 1930’s once housed stables and an ancient barn, are surrounded by vineyards and olive groves.

The buildings maintain the classic architectural simplicity typical of the rural Sicilian countryside. The resort has 12 well-equipped suites centred around a courtyard and with views over the vineyards, as well as a large heated swimming pool and a conference room. One wing is given over to the health and wellbeing area complete with gym, sauna, invigorating rain showers, jacuzzi and massage. And in this area you can also try out the vinotherapy treatments.
