Elio Germano was awarded best actor with Javier Bardem at the 63rd Cannes Festival. Germano was awarded for the film La nostra vita (Our life) while Bardem for “Biutiful”, directed by Inarritu. The Palme d’Or was won by the Thai director Weerasethakul with ‘Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives’. The best actress prize was awarded to Juliette Binoche for her role in Copie Conforme (Certified Copy) by Abbas Kiarostami. The Grand Prix went to Des Hommes et des dieux (Of Gods and Men) directed by Xavier Beauvois.
